UK Maths Trust is an education charity committed to advancing the education of young people in maths. They wanted to update their branding to make it more youthful and relevant as well as creating a new, secure and easy to use website, with some really smart and technical integrations.

The process

This was an excellent nine-month project, culminating in the launch of a new brand and website in 2023.

Our user-led approach excelled throughout the project and we enjoyed learning about and understanding the core of what UKMT is, what they do, and how they do it. We translated this understanding into a new brand strategy and identity, maintaining the essence of the existing identity but with a more flexible and visually appealing design.

This new identity has been gradually implemented across the organisation over the past 18 months. The website redesign was based on thorough research and insights, involving workshops, surveys, and analytics analysis.

We aimed to understand the needs and wants of the organisation’s users, as well as how the site was being used, to inform our recommendations and developments. UKMT runs a series of challenges for students worldwide.

Alongside creating a consistent and easy to use site structure for these challenges and the wider site, one key element of the project was integrating the website with the learning platform that delivers these challenges.

We created a bespoke API and app that seamlessly link the website with the learning platform through a Single Sign-On (SSO) protocol. This allows users to access their UKMT and learning platform accounts without logging in multiple times, maintaining the feel of staying on the same website.

This integration also enabled the charity to boost sales of their past papers on the site, an important income stream.

As with all projects, we ran a bespoke training session with the UKMT to give them the confidence and knowledge to carry out day to day management of the site.

The outcome

The new UKMT branding and website has completely transform end and revitalised the organisation’s identity as well as helping them to grow since its launch.

We’re excited to be starting phase 2 development on the site in Summer 2024, with some fun and challenging new functionality in the pipeline!
