The process
At the client’s request, we streamlined our process, reducing research and user insights, as their audience and purpose differ from typical charities.
The focus of the project was to make their wealth of information and statistics easily accessible for journalists, MPs, government departments, think tanks, and industry professionals.
Using our tried-and-tested development process, we clarified the website’s purpose and created a new sitemap to ensure information is easily found, no matter where users enter the site.
During the UX design phase, we structured pages and signposting to prioritise key information, ensuring the diverse audience can quickly find what they need.
For the UI design, we added new tints to the existing Fair By Design colour palette to enhance accessibility.
We recreated many assets for aesthetic appeal and introduced animated icons for added interest. Although the build process was standard, a significant task was curating and transferring hundreds of blogs, publications, policies, and research papers from the old site. Where possible, we retained existing URLs to support SEO performance.
We ran a training session with the Fair By Design team to ensure they know how to manage their site without the need for the NB team to get involved, which is a really important part of every site that we create.
The outcome
The new Fair by Design site looks the part and performs brilliantly, creating a great looking, easy-to-use and easy-to-navigate website that ensures their audiences can get around the site quickly and easily.
